Chiefs on the verge of acquiring Surtain

The Kansas City Chiefs were supposed to look to the draft for help at cornerback -- and they still might. They just don't have to do it in the first round.

That's because the club is on the verge of making a trade with Miami that would send disgruntled cornerback Patrick Surtain to the Chiefs for a second-round pick, the 46th overall, in Saturday's draft, NFL sources said early Friday.Read More ...

Joe Posnanski's "Super Mock Draft"

Everybody does a mock NFL draft. Everybody. You get the sense that Chiefs director of scouting Chuck Cook might not spend his spare time working out, say, cell coverage plans for Sprint or planning possible menus for The American Restaurant. Story

KCChiefs.com reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Trent Green anticipates playing at least three more seasons before entering retirement. "Ideally, in my head I'd like to go three, but if I get to three and I feel great, then four, then five," Green said. "I'm enjoying it right now. Draft Articles in the KC Star tomorrow

Hey guys, here is an article, by Elizabeth Merrill about the chiefs drafting, or lack thereof. Remember to visit BugMeNot for usernames and passwords
_______________________________________________________
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The war room consisted of three guys eyeballing grainy film. The top picks were assigned babysitters so no slickster from another league could steal them away.

Lamar Hunt is sitting in a hotel room in Atlanta, reminiscing about the draft, trying to remember how he pulled off 1963.

"Sometimes it works out that way," Hunt says. "There was a lot more ad-libbing in those olden days. There were a lot more mistakes, too."

Instant help won't come easily

Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil’s wish list for this weekend’s draft includes a cornerback, safety, linebacker, tight end, running back, wide receiver and offensive lineman. That’s a big list and obviously he’s not going to find a dazzling gift in every draft choice he unwraps on the Arrowhead Stadium practice field. Story
