OSWEGO'S KALLFELZ STILL HOPING FOR SPOT IN NFL
Although he was not selected in the NFL Draft, Oswego's Mike Kallfelz continues to pursue a career in pro football.
A workout for the Kansas City Chiefs is pending, Kallfelz said. And if that doesn't work out, Kallfelz said he could end up playing for the Lazio team in NFL Italy.
Kallfelz, a 6-foot-5, 260-pound tight end, is concluding his senior year at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.Full Story... |

TEICHER On Jan. 22 - he remembers the exact date because he entered it in his log - (KRT) - Chiefs defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham handed president/general manager Carl Peterson his player wish list.
Written on the piece of paper were the names of linebacker Kendrell Bell, safety Sammy Knight, end Carlos Hall and four cornerbacks, including Patrick Surtain.
"I told Carl that if could get all of that done," Cunningham said, "I could go home and sleep at night."Full Story... |

RAND: New defenders will help more than you know
Allow me to be about the 25th person to publicly say the Chiefs took just the right approach in last weekend’s draft.
They boosted their defense on the first day by acquiring players who should be able to start this year, and used the second day to fill needs down the road. The big question, of course, is whether their new players can accomplish what the Chiefs expect. Story |

Comprehensive Chiefs draft ranking
Analysis: The Chiefs were likely coveting Georgia safety Thomas Davis at No. 15 (he went at 14 to the Panthers), but were fortunate to pick up Johnson, who many considered a Top 10 talent. Colquitt may have been a reach in the third round, but Thorpe was a good choice as day two started. Grigsby was a phenomenal collegiate run-stopper who played in one of I-AA's top leagues, and could follow the same road to success as current Chiefs end Jared Allen. Of the remaining five second-day picks, Hodge has the best chance to see the field in the near future, and Svitek and Parquet should each be able to stay to add to o-line depth. Don't be shocked to see Kilian stick around as the Chiefs' third quarterback and make a spring 2006 pilgrimage to NFL Europe. Bottom Line: Probably didn't need a punter so early, but otherwise deserve high marks. Grade: A- Source |

Pressure has Johnson's name
Derrick Johnson made the rounds with the general manager, his coach and a guy in a red cape with a spear on his head. With the heady stuff out of the way, it was time for the Chiefs' newest great hope to kick back Monday night, eat some chicken and hobnob with fans at a post-draft dinner. Story |

Chiefs find the Boomer that they sorely lacked
Here's a little Chiefs fan advice: You might want to beat the Christmas rush and go get your Boomer Grigsby jersey right now. The Boomer right now is listed as No. 95 on the Chiefs, but the number doesn't really matter. You just have to put the word “Boomer” on the back. Before long, everyone will know who you are talking about. Story |

DRAFT: WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Carl Peterson/Dick Vermeil Post-Draft - 2005 Q: What do you still have to do personnel-wise?
DICK VERMEIL: “Carl (Peterson) can tell you better about this. I can tell you that you never stop working on personnel. There’s going to be a June 1st date come around and every once in a while you’re going to be able to pick up a quality athlete at that time. But from a coach’s standpoint right now it’s college free agents. Sign a few college free agents that we liked that didn’t get drafted and that we didn’t draft, that kind of player – a player like a Benny Sapp last year. Provide them an opportunity to work out at our rookie camp this week and sign a few prior to that.” Full Story Here |

Peterson to fans: I love each of you
He likes you. Really.
Carl Peterson made another attempt Sunday to reach out to Chiefs fans, saying his comments last week suggesting season-ticket holders were the only ones who mattered were misunderstood.
“Well, I think that's a gross misinterpretation of what I really did say,” Peterson said. “And I said yesterday that I love all Kansas City Chiefs fans. All of them.” Full Story Here |
