Chiefs | No Interest in Hakim

Chiefs | No Interest in Hakim - from www.KFFL.com Fri, 29 Apr 2005 08:48:20 -0700
Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have no interest in signing free agent WR Az-Zahir Hakim (Lions). "I'd love to have Az," head coach Dick Vermeil said. "The problem is, as I told Az, is that I already have Dante Hall. I also have another receiver who's not a big guy in Samie Parker. I just don't have room for another small wide receiver. I just wanted to visit with and explain that to him." Hakim played for Vermeil while with the St. Louis Rams.

Rand: This plan shows staying power
|
The Chiefs sure as heck don’t want to be forced into rebuilding their defense after one year. Especially because their offense will need rebuilding soon enough. If the stars are perfectly aligned for the Chiefs in 2005, they’ll have a rejuvenated defense coupled with an offense that’s still the league’s best.
Yet the offense is loaded with key players over 30. Each off-season begs the question of how much longer Pro Bowl linemen Willie Roaf and Will Shields will postpone their retirements; how long quarterback Trent Green and running back Priest Holmes can keep piling up big numbers; and how long they can get without grooming replacements for wide receivers Eddie Kennison and Johnnie Morton.Read More ... |
