Q&A with DICK VERMEIL
|
Q: Is it precautionary that you are keeping LB Kendrell Bell out of these OTAs?
VERMEIL: “Yeah. ”
Q: With that time off, do you still expect him to be full strength?
VERMEIL: “I would expect him to gradually get back to full speed. We are being super sensitive. He came here in rehab and in a way he has been practicing with a rehab mode. ” Full Story |

Q&A QB TRENT GREEN
|
Q: How much do you miss T Willie Roaf, G Brian Waters and G Will Shields?
GREEN: “It is a big adjustment for everybody. You get use to having those guys in the huddle every day. I have been with them now for four years, Roaf only three. It is an adjustment but I think they have proven what they can do. They are getting healthy and getting ready for the season. It is a great opportunity for some of the young guys to get some work. It’s great for guys like John Welbourn because he is getting acclimated into a new position. It is great work for everybody and this is obviously the best time for them to get it. This is a great learning point for guys right now.”
Q: Is it extra work for you when some of those veterans are not here?
GREEN: “The only thing it really messes with is the team period when you are going against the defense and you have a pass rush going on. I am so use to those guys and I know what they do. They also know how I like to move around in the pocket and there is some comfort there with those guys. With these new guys it is a little different, but this is the time to experiment.” Full Story |

Vermeil Pleased With Defense at OTAs
|
Report from KFFL.com - (Thu, 26 May 2005 20:37:21 -0700) KCChiefs.com reports Kansas City Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil has been pleased with the team's defensive effort during Organized Team Activities. "I am very pleased with the improvement that the defense has made," Vermeil said. "It appears our movement is better, reactions are better, our focus on the little things is better. We have to get so we keep trading big plays. We have to get out of the trade business. Make one, but don't give up one. You make one and give up one then you are just giving up big plays. Then you are coming down to a fumble or interception that wins it or loses it for you." |

-Chiefs missing Shields, Roaf, Waters on the line-
|
His security blanket was resting somewhere in the Kansas City `burbs, and Trent Green took off running. A giant red jersey zoomed in on his blind side. Green would have been on his backside had it not been a late-May, offseason workout. It's a bummer getting old. Green will be 35 this summer, but the Chiefs' quarterback looks young and fresh and ready to play until his AARP card arrives. His buddies on the offensive line are a different story.Read More ... |

Eric Crouch's Diary
|
Unfortunately we came up short against Berlin last weekend 27-17, which makes the road to the World Bowl slightly tougher, but we still have a good chance at playing in that championship game on June 11. We need to win these next two games and Cologne needs to lose once and we’ll be making the trip to Düsseldorf, so we’re definitely still in the hunt. We just have to come out and play like we’re capable of playing in these last two weeks and then we’ll see where we end up.Full Story... |

Change comes fast
|
The truck stopped on an empty country road in the middle of Georgia, and Jim Marsalis told Kendrell Bell to get out and run. It was 100 degrees. Bell was lost. His godfather peeled away leaving no map, no water, just one instruction — follow the road five miles to a stop sign. He’d be waiting there with a pop.
“I’ve had to run in cow pastures,” Bell said. “Six miles, every other day. You never know what life will pave for you. You’ve just got to try to walk it.” Story |

Q&A S JEROME WOODS
|
Q: Why did you decide to train with a speed coach in the off-season?
WOODS: “I thought it was better for me. You know, just working on little things that normally you would miss working out up here with the others guys was the main reason.”
Q: Was this something that you thought about before or just something different you wanted to try?
WOODS: “Just something different. You have three guys trying to train 70 guys. Do the numbers. I needed a guy to work with me more on an individual basis.” Full Story |

Don’t expect Wesley to knock on Woods
|
They have been friends and secondary mates for five seasons, but it’s beginning to sound like Greg Wesley is tired of answering questions about Jerome Woods.
“I know nothing about Jerome Woods,” Wesley said in a robotic voice Tuesday as the microphones swarmed in on him.
It is week two of the Chiefs’ voluntary but not-so-voluntary offseason workouts. Woods is supposed to be battling Wesley for a starting job, and the veteran safety hasn’t arrived in Kansas City. Coach Dick Vermeil expected Woods late last week. On Tuesday, Vermeil said he “has no clue” when Woods will be back. Full Story |

Dante Hall Poised for Big Year
|
Hall needs to focus on return game in 2005.
Coming off his spectacular 2003 campaign, where he earned the nickname of the ‘Human Joystick’, Hall’s return down to the earth in 2004 and resembled more of a Jedi apprentice in 2004 on kickoffs and punt returns. In 2005, Hall hopes to be more like he was in his breakout season than the tired player that struggled to make plays last season.
With injuries to wide receivers Marc Boerigter and Johnnie Morton early in the pre-season a year ago, Hall was pressed into a larger role in the offense last season, spending more time on the field than he or Coach Dick Vermeil had anticipated. Full Story |

NFL Network Q&A RB PRIEST HOLMES
|
NFL NETWORK INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT WITH RICH EISEN & ROBERT SMITH (Video to follow) EISEN: (Joking) “If it’s O.T.A. time in Kansas City you must be coming back from injury. That just seems to be the case the past few years. How are you doing?”
HOLMES: (Laughing) “It seems like injuries are very much a part of football and I’ve been a perfect example of how injuries are a part of football. But right now I’m able to bounce back getting into the swing of things, getting back on the field with the teammates, I’m excited to be back in uniform and ready to start another season.”
SMITH: “You know I think it’s pretty funny, early in my career is when I had most of my injuries and oddly enough I had right ACL and left MCL, PCL, and I think you had left ACL and right MCL and everybody was calling me injury-prone and I said well that’s like calling a race car driver accident prone, I mean it really is just part of the game. But are there are things you have to deal with but at some point you have to say, ‘How much more of this can my body take?’ Has that gone through your mind at all?”
HOLMES: “Well right now I think about two years ago was the first time that I had an opportunity for my mind to just kind of waver a little bit and started to focus more on the injuries but right now I think I’m back in the swing of things as long as the body is able to come back from any injury, which I believe it is, I’ll be ready to play.” Full Story |
