Can’t catch a break

By the time the season is finished, Eddie Kennison and Samie Parker might be satisfied with catching 80 passes and gaining more than 900 yards.

The Chiefs’ starting wide receivers won’t be happy if they have those numbers combined. Yet through two games, they together have 10 receptions for 114 yards and no touchdowns, so that’s their shared pace.

Predictably, that doesn’t sit well with two players used to not only getting the ball but getting it for big plays.

“As a receiver, you want the ball thrown to you on every down — and then some, if that’s possible,” Kennison said. “That’s just the way it is.

“What we’re used to is Dick Vermeil and Al Saunders. With Herm (Edwards) and (Mike) Solari, it’s different. They think differently. We have to adjust to it. We may not like it. We may not agree with everything, but we have to deal with it. That’s our job.”

Kennison had more than 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons but won’t get to 500 at his current pace. He has just three catches.

Parker has seven but for 61 measly yards. His longest play is a puny 12 yards.

Kennison caught 17 passes of more than 20 yards last season, Parker eight. Combined, they have just one this year. Full story
